A Bus Driver transports public or private clients from one destination to another according to pre-determined routes. They may be required to assist passengers in boarding and exiting. Bus Drivers must obtain a special license to drive buses legally.
A Bus Driver:
- follows the road rules and takes advantage of special bus lanes
- follows pre-determined bus routes to transport passengers in a timely and safe manner
- checks the condition of bus tyres, brakes, lights, fuel, oil and water
- follows strict time schedules
- maintains contact with a head office in order to ensure time, destination and safety rules are met and to report any accidents, faults or other problems
- submits reports on passenger numbers, hours worked, mileage and fuel consumption
- maintains an up-to-date first aid certificate
